Alister Scott received our developing artist commission award, to work with Jackie Wills as a mentee in creative writing.
About The Bursary
With the Emerging Artist Bursary applicants could apply in a chosen area of either visual arts or creative writing. The bursary offer included:
- Three mentoring sessions from one of the arts practitioners taking part in the project
- A cash sum to pay for materials and other expenses

Artist Mentor
Jackie Wills
Jackie Wills is a former journalist. She writes short stories, poetry and creative non-fiction. Her sixth collection of poems, A Friable Earth, was published in October 2019 (Arc Publications). She has been shortlisted for the TS Eliot prize and is a Royal Literary Fund lector. Wills work has been described as irreverent, bewitching, compassionate and surreal. She writes about women’s lives and the natural world. She has worked an allotment for more than 20 years.
