A huge congratulations to DAiSY~Chain artist Simran Ahira for being nominated for Surrey Artist of the Year 2024!


We are really excited to announce that DAiSY~Chain artist Simran Ahira has been nominated for Surrey Artist of the Year 2024!

Simran’s beautiful painting’s are full of emotion, both challenging and soothing the viewer. We are very proud and excited for Simran, and wish her the best of luck.

Simran’s work will be featured in a group exhibition at New Ashgate Gallery from 14 September – 9 November 2024. Visitors will be able to vote in person at the exhibition up until 25 October.

Surrey Artist of the Year 2024


Presented in collaboration between the New Ashgate Gallery and Surrey Artists Open Studios, this annual event has been showcasing the exceptional talent of local artists since 2009.

This prestigious competition celebrates outstanding local artists across various mediums, from intricate designs to bold expressions, discover a rich array of artwork spanning various mediums such as painting, printmaking, drawing, textiles and ceramics.

The shortlisted artists are:

The competition involves two rounds of public voting: first in the summer studios to select the shortlist, and then again for the winner in the gallery during the show until October 25th. Your voice, alongside the esteemed judging panel, will determine the recipient of the prestigious title of Surrey Artist of the Year 2024. The winning artist will not only earn the distinction but also receive a bursary of £1,000 and a solo exhibition at the New Ashgate Gallery.

As part of New Ashgate Gallery’s commitment to fostering creativity within the community, they are also offering free family workshops during the October half-term on the 29th and 30th.
