The Daisyfest Showcase featured the following performances:

Up! Orchestra performed a carnival themed extravaganza inspired by the upcoming Rio Paralympics.  Specially commissioned for Daisyfest 2016, Carnival! was created in collaboration with local dance groups Dramatize, Rhythmic Collision and Freewheelers. And with local singing groups The Just So Singers, High Notes and Guildford LS Choir.



Amandla! an extract by Freewheelers Theatre Company 

2015_1203FQadwcconCharting the remarkable life of Nelson Mandela,Amandla! (meaning Power to the People) is the latest production from the acclaimed Freewheelers Theatre Company.

The extraordinary journey of Mandela, from his freedom-fighting days to his rise to President of South Africa, was re-imagined by a company of disabled and non-disabled artists through drama, dance, film, painting and music.

This momentous tale of struggle, hope and inspiration finds new resonance through a diverse cast who used rehearsals to explore the meaning of struggle in their own lives. Extracts of Amandla! were presented at Daisyfest 2016 ahead of the company embarking on tour.


Choir performance 
From the mass choir comprising of – Just So Singers, children’s SEN choir, High Notes adults SEN choir and Guildford LS choir along with adult SEN choir.

IMG_0929 - Copy (2)Fusing percussion, rhythm and dance in a medley of exuberant songs, the Just So Singers, High Notes and Guildford Learning Support Choirs took to the stage as one large group for a musical performance inspired by the streets of South America. They delivered a Calypso and Latin vibe with piano, guitar and drums that had audiences singing and dancing in their seats.




And Time Ticks On by Sg Troop

Winter Platform TroopInspired by Shakespeare’s classic A Winter’s Tale,dance group Sg Troop presented a contemporary and stylish performance using integrated choreography. And Time Ticks On is set in a dystopian world ruled by the ticking of the clock and explores conformity, rebellion and what it means to be an individual. A group supported by international dance company Stopgap Dance Company, Sg Troop is a small group of committed dancers interested in inclusive practice and integrated choreography.
